Special Highlighted Sake Brewery
Matsui Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. was founded in 1726.
Surrounded by the 36 peaks of the Higashiyama mountain range and the Kamogawa River, the sake brewery overlooks the Kyoto Imperial Palace and Shimogamo Shrine to the west and Mt.Daimonji to the east. The brewery owner himself brews sake with the assistance of a small team.
Our sake is not simply fragrant or dry; its flavor seeks to maximize the “taste of rice” to create a unique blend of sweet, sour and bitter notes.

While subject to the ravages of time, especially in difficult periods, we never stopped brewing sake even if the quantity was small. The groundwater that flows out of nearby Mt.Hiei is very soft and has a crisp, clear taste.
That is a key factor in Matsui's sake brewing and it is also the reason why we continued to brew sake.
As such, we became the oldest continuing brewery in the city of Kyoto.
The important thing is enjoying sake as it is. We desire that all of our customers have a good time with our sake.
